27 people attended the workshop which was run by 4 facilitators to address the main problems affecting Malindi.

  1. Rapid population growth along a narrow piece of land
  2. Portable water
  3. Soil erosion
  4. Deforestation
  5. Decline of fish catch in lake.
Participants were divided into 4 groups and Samuel Baluti from Monkey Bay took participants through the process of designing.

ANAMED In the past people in Malawi relied on natural medicines to cure their illnesses. With the introduction of Western medicine, some of this knowledge has been forgotten. However there is a severe shortage of drugs in Malawi and interest in herbal medicine is growing. The course covered :

  1. Natural medicines importance and use.
  2. Demonstration of making a cough tincture from Eucalyptus
  3. Stressed the importance of measuring natural medicines.
Matthew Mpofu challenged the participants by introducing treatments for poisonous bites from snakes and scorpions.
