Fundraising

MACS raises funds in a variety of ways. Below is a summary of how you can participate.

We currently rely heavily on individual donations from members and various Churches in the UK.

We have received a few substantial grants from Aspect Capital and the Lottery Fund and we plan to continue to approach such funding agencies.

MACS Gifts

  • Macs have produced a brochure of gifts that you can 'give' to friends instead of a traditional present.
  • Download the gift brochure here.

MACS on -

  • Ebay is a vast auction site on the Internet, selling over £6 billion worth of items last year. www.Ebay.co.uk
  • MACS have setup an account on Ebay to enable us to sell your ‘stuff’ – anything from books to cars.
  • If you are interested, you need to provide information about your item – ideally with photos and be responsible for getting the item either sent or picked up.
  • It’s a lot easier than taking your items to the local charity shop – or trying to ignore it in the corner of the garage!
  • Below are more details on how the process works. and a checklist for you.

Missionfish on Ebay

  • MissionFish enables people selling on Ebay to give some of the proceeds to charity.
  • Tell anyone you know who sells on Ebay – that they can now choose to donate a percentage of the sale price to MACS.
  • All they need to do is select MACS from the MissionFish list of charities, which they do when entering details of their auction item onto the site

MACS' shop front -

  • Companies like John Lewis, Oddbins and M&S will give a percentage of the sales price (between 2 and 12%) to MACS if you go through our website at http://buy.at/malawimacs
  • ** Prices are NO higher than if you bought directly from the provider’s site – so there’s nothing to loose.
  • Try it out - it just adds one click to your internet shopping trip.
  • There are also some special deals, e.g. if you buy broadband through the site, the company will donate £27 to MACS

EBay Giving through MACS - Checklist

  • Provide a description and preferably photos of the goods for sale, and as much relevant detail as possible e.g. physical state, age,
  • Tell us whether you are willing to post the goods to the successful bidder - or whether you would prefer them to come an pick them up. Postage is a better option, because more people are likely to be interested and bid.
  • Tell us what percentage of the proceeds you would like to go to MACS - most people give 100%
  • Provide us with your contact details. A mobile phone number and email address are particularly useful - so that we can contact you quickly, if the need arises.

EBay giving - the Process

  • You contact us via email at malawimacs@gmail.com
  • Send us the details outlined in the checklist above.
  • We will put up details of your sale item, using our Ebay account.
  • We will manage the bidding process, e.g. liaising with the bidders and the eventual winner. This normally requires us to get answers from you - so your mobile phone number and email address are very useful.
  • Once the auction is completed we will put the successful bidder in touch with you so that you can both sort out the details.
